Agenda Thursday and Friday, February 18-19

Continue working on your Endangered Species research questions.

Also, as you find answers to your questions, I want youo to generate at least 10 more questions(get used to this; it's how research works).

If we have network problems, we kick it old school (learn from reading stuff).

Right now, your species is in danger of dissapearing forever. There is no time to waste!

Agenda Tuesday and Wednesday, February 16-17


Welcome! I know I'm in the wrong class, but I can't let you have all the fun.
Today we begin using what you've learned in all your classes to make a positive and measurable difference in the status of your personal endangered species.

1. THE BIG PICTURE
Watch and carefully read the slide show "Endangered Means There is Still Time" by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service http://www.fws.gov/endangered/kids/pdf/presentation.pdf

1.a Take a minute to respond in your personal blog. Summarize the information pamphlet and briefly discuss why you think we should bother with threatened species.

2. LEARNING ABOUT HABITAT IN GENERAL
Familiarize yourself with the natural communities of Florida. Image-search the 13 different classifications at
http://www.fnai.org/descriptions.cfm so you can see what they look like. Don't worry if you don't know what words mean - just look at the places.

3. LEARNING ABOUT YOUR SPECIES
Get your Evernote up and start collecting information about your species. Focus on the following research directions:
What it is, in normal English?
In what part of Florida does it live?
To which natural community does it belong? (this one is really important!)
Who out there seems to know a lot about this species?
What seems to be its problem? What is threatening its survival?
